I write poems and stories that help us heal our inherited and ancestral traumas, and access our ancestral wisdoms and gifts, so we can remember who and what we truly are.
I teach courses and workshops that support writers to merge soul & craft; being & doing; body, heart & mind, in order to develop writing practices that nourish their whole lives.
I am a daughter of the mountain and the sea, born and raised in Camissa, South Africa. I work as a poet, performer and creative writing teacher & mentor. My work has been published in anthologies, journals and non-fiction books globally. Some of my work includes Krotoa-Eva’s Suite – a cape jazz poem in three movements – in collaboration with filmmaker Kurt Orderson (Amsterdam and Cape Town, 2016); I Come To My Body As A Question with dotdotdot dance (UK & Sweden, 2016 - 2020); and forgetting. and memory with vangile gantsho & Vusumzi Ngxande, at the Virtual National Arts Festival (South Africa, 2020). from 2018 to 2019, I founded and ran Athlone Young Poets, at Belgravia High School in Cape Town, and was the founding curator of Poetica at Open Book Festival from 2013-2014.
I was named in the Mail & Guardian Top 200 Young South African list of 2013, and have an MA Writer/Teacher (Distinction) from Goldsmiths, University of London, where I was a 2014/2015 Chevening Scholar.
